Thrive Time

Thrive Time is an occupational therapy (OT) program designed for elementary-aged students who may benefit from additional support in executive functioning, social-emotional learning, and life skills that will enhance their academic performance and beyond.

Any family who believes their child will benefit from Thrive Time is welcome to register. Referrals are not needed.

Goals of the Thrive Time Program

  1. Recognize and interpret emotions to promote classroom engagement

  2. Transfer problem-solving skills to classroom activities

  3. Modify emotional responses to increase engagement in groups

  4. Collaborate with peers to strengthen critical thinking skills

About Thrive Time

  • Program

    Week 1: Emotional Motion - emotional control, flexibility, self-awareness

    Week 2: Feelings in Focus - planning, self-management

    Week 3: Cool Choices - mindfulness, problem-solving, social awareness

    Week 4: Inner Explorer - critical thinking, memory strategy, organization

    Week 5: Thrive Time - determined based on child’s needs

Details for Families

  • Families must provide transportation to and from Thrive Time sessions, which are held at Oneka Elementary.

  • Thrive Time is a group model; up to eight (8) children will be in each session.

  • Sessions are for children only.

  • Occupational Therapy practitioners (OTPs) and OT graduate students from St. Catherine University will lead engaging lessons that strengthen children's developmental skills.

  • There is no cost to participate in the program.

  • Thrive Time will be held at Oneka Elementary: 4888 Heritage Pkwy North, Hugo, MN 55038
