Billing:

Frequently Asked Questions

Billing@RiseUpHealthClinics.org

Why is Rise Up updating its billing practices?

Our goal is to provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality health care to all our patients. To ensure we remain sustainable and available to the community during this time when the grant and health funding are uncertain, we are improving our billing processes.

Will I ever be sent to collections if I can't pay my bill?
No. Rise Up Health Clinics will never send a bill to collections. If you're unable to pay, our Health Equity Fund can help cover the cost.

Will my health insurance be billed?
Yes. If your child has health insurance, we will bill your insurance after the visit.

What if I don’t want to use my insurance?
If you have a commercial insurance plan but choose not to use it, you may opt to pay the self-pay rate. You will need to sign a waiver. This estimate is available on our website and through our online scheduling system.

What happens if my insurance doesn’t cover the services?
If your insurance does not cover a service or is not in-network, you will be financially responsible for the remaining balance. You have two options:

  • Request a superbill following your child's visit to submit to your insurance, or

  • Pay the self-pay rate instead of billing your insurance.

What if I don’t have insurance?
That’s okay. Your child is still welcome at our clinic. You’ll be billed at the self-pay rate, and assistance is available if you are unable to pay.

Why am I getting a bill from Rise Up Health Clinics?
Starting September 1, 2025, you may receive a bill for care provided in our clinics or at mobile vaccine events. This may happen if:

  • You have a copay, deductible, or coinsurance

  • You don’t have health insurance

  • We don’t have your current insurance information

  • The service wasn’t covered by your insurance

What should I do if I have questions about my insurance coverage or a denied claim?
Please contact your insurance company directly with any questions about denied charges or your out-of-pocket responsibility.

How and when do I pay my clinic bill?
You will receive one bill from us after your child’s visit. If you are able, please pay within 30 days of the bill date. There will be a link online to pay your bill.

What if I can’t afford to pay?
That's okay. You have options:

  • Contact Billing@RiseUpHealthClinics.org for payment plans or assistance

  • Pay what you are able to.

  • If you are unable to pay, your bill may be fully covered by our Health Equity Fund

Can my child still receive care if we have an unpaid bill?
Yes. Your child will always be able to receive care at Rise Up Health Clinics, regardless of your ability to pay.
